Tutorial - How to Extract Resource from EXE/DLL Files?
Introduction
Ever want to get a resource out of EXE and DLL files? Well now you can, with Free Resource Extractor. It is a small utility that helps search & explore pictures, photos, icons, cursors, AVI movies, sounds, HTML files, etc. packed in EXE/DLL/OCX/CPL files and many other executable file types. And then you can extract all resources stored in them into the folder that you specify.
Step 1. Search for the Resource
Launch Free Resource Extractor and you'll see the Windows explorer-like interface. In the left explorer window, click the source folder you need and all the files in this folder will be displayed with info like name, size, type, etc. Choose the EXE/DLL file and you'll find all the items such as image, mui, icons, string, version and so on contained in it. Select one item and its name, size, amount of resources, number of images, cursor, etc. will display in the right window. On the right bottom there's a preview window to display the item selected if it's an image. Click the dropdown button of "Zoom" to adjust the size to auto fit or 25/50/100/200/400/800 percent.
